Happy Summer!

I truly enjoyed teaching all of you in 5th grade this year! You were a wonderful group of students! Stay smart and stay kind!

Over your summer vacation, continue to work on your math skills using

  • IXL
  • xtramath
  • Moby Max
Remember, 6th grade is not going to begin with a review. Go in prepared! Show what you know!!

Also, keep your notebook! All the notes in it will be a great reference for you to use.

Math Happenings

  • Red and Yellow Groups are reviewing Adding and Subtracting Fractions this week. Assessment will be Friday.
  • Blue Group will begin Dividing Decimals. This should be mostly review. We have been working on this all year with our Five A Day problems that we work on everyday at the beginning of class. We'll practice sliding the Divisor Decimal and Raising the Roof with the Dividend Decimal. Then we'll quickly move into Adding and Subtracting Fractions.
  • Your child has an IXL username and password if they paid for their subscription at the beginning of the year. We will be working on IXL once a week in class. Your child may also work on this at home; it needs to be a skill we have practiced in class. If your child did not pay at the beginning of the year, they can send in their $12.00 now and I will set up their subscription.
  • Your child also has access to xtramath.org. They have a username and a pin number. When they get to the website, it is going to ask for my email. It is khines@neusecharterschool.org. Please have your child practice this at home!!
  • IXL, Moby Max, and xtramath can all be accessed at home. This can be worked on at any time.  Any day -- during the week or weekend!!
  • I need your help reminding students that Math Morning Work that is handed out on Tuesday mornings during Homeroom is graded. I still have several students that have not turned theirs in from last week. This counts as a classwork/participation grade. If it is not finished during homeroom, it can be finished during Cougar time.
